How Fearless is Doing the Work

We want to be better and the first step is transparency––so that’s what we’re doing. Our Fearless Team is ready to be held accountable, embrace positive change and follow up our words with action. We’ve provided detailed demographics on our leadership and employees, as well as next steps. Our goal is to be as up-front as possible with our clients, community and current team. Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Our Team:

Leadership - 2 employees

  • 1 White

  • 1 Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander

Employees

  • 1 Black

  • 3 White

What we’re doing this week:

  • Having critical conversations with our employees, our partners, and our community about the inequality, racism, and oppression in this country.

  • Crafting content to speak up in support of the Black Lives Matter movement to make clear to our community where we stand on these issues.

  • Taking time to listen, learn from, and elevate black voices to better educate ourselves and others on the work we must do to be better allies.

  • Revisiting & updating our core values to more explicitly state our beliefs when it comes to standing up to racism and discrimination in all forms.

  • Donating to organizers that are actively on the front lines of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as organizations that are supporting the arts in black & brown communities.

What we’re doing over the next 90 days:

  • Dedicating time & energy to team meetings specifically designated to discussing our individual experiences with racism.

  • Encouraging our team to invest time in educating themselves on anti-racism, building out our company library of black authored books, and providing funds for our team to invest in training on unpack these issues at an individual level.

  • Taking a critical look at everything from our content to our pricing to our website to ensure that the content and programs we create is accessible and inclusive.

  • Reviewing our clients & vendors to determine that they are in alignment with our values and reflective of the world at large rather than predominantly white.

  • Hosting webinars and conversations for the community to evaluate their privileges, share their lived experiences with racism, and learn about how they can speak up against systemic oppression.

What we’re doing forever:

  • Making a point to recruit candidates of color with intention, and to not hold interviews until we have secured multiple non-white applicants for open positions.

  • Researching our vendors & clients in advance of working with them to ensure that they are not perpetuating or validating racist rhetoric or behaviors in their company cultures.

  • Using our power and privilege to speak up against acts of racism and oppression, and providing a platform for black & brown voices to be heard.

  • Investing in & referring the work of black & brown business owners to members of our community.

  • Committing to cultivating a community and a company that is dedicated to doing the ongoing work of anti-racism.

What could we be doing better?

This is where we want to hear from you, our community. What are the ways that we can be better allies? Please let us know what further work you believe we can do to do support & stand up for black and brown lives.
