Why We Start With Strategy
A Glance Into Our Process
Our clients come to us looking for solutions to an array of problems. Some clients are high-achievers who are quickly scaling their companies and have just realized they’re stretched too thin. To continue growing, they’ll have to delegate more tasks—like marketing, for example. Other clients are already master delegators who recognize the right time to bring in an outside team with expertise. And finally, a third type of client comes to us with a half-formed dream of a brand, declaring “I’m ready for a website!”.
Can I share a little secret? We actually love those types of projects because we get to coach the client to slow down and think strategically.
High quality work takes time. Research. Energy.
We are a passionate, collaborative team. We do produce a huge volume of work—and 100% of it is informed by a prior strategic process. We begin with brand strategy because it lays the foundation for all the content, recommendations, and materials we create for our clients.
Our process is always customized to each client’s needs, but here’s a breakdown of some elements often included in our strategic process:
1. Brand Idea
A brand idea is your north star, a filter through which all creative decisions are made, and the foundation for your brand voice and identity.
2. Brand Positioning
Your positioning is what distinguishes you from your competitors. It is the very core of your value proposition, and it’s what is unique and specific about your brand in the minds of your customers or clients.
3. Target Customer Mindset
Detailed, research-informed descriptions of your ideal customers and clients—down to their habits, interests, and core beliefs.
4. Tone & Voice
Your tone and voice communicates the mood, style, texture, and all external expressions of your brand. It’s informed by all the above concepts: Brand idea, positioning, and audience.
Ultimately, a brand is the “living” embodiment of an entity. It evolves over time, which is beautiful and necessary. We use brand strategy as the guide to the next chapter of a business’s identity, but we always know it won’t be the last chapter—the most successful companies know when it’s time to change.
